Recently the California State Transportation Agency awarded LOSSAN $188.3 million dollars. $147.9 million of this money will go for improvements in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
The now 700 foot Leesdale siding in Ventura County will be extended by over 6 miles adding track capacity for both Amtrak and Metrolink. The Ortega Siding in Santa Barbara County will be extended to a full mile in a 17 mile stretch of single track. The Carpenteria Station will get a second track and platform.
Ten hand thrown switches will be replaced with powered switches at 5 sidings in Santa Barbara County. And there will be 104 miles of track between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties which will be upgraded to Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) replacing Traffic Warrant Control which will improve safety and increase track capacity
