Understand why US railroads do CWR the way they do. Main question is whether they can keep doing it that way as the climate heats up and gets more extreme. For instance, if setting the neutral temp up by 10 deg causes more breakage in the winter when it gets cold (and perhaps colder than now, when the occasional arctic breakout occurs), is that a bigger problem than maintaining expansion joints? I suspect not, but as the kid in Angels in the Outfield said, "it could happen."
