I think it's a great letter, in it's intentional absurdity.... Since the CAHSRA is an absurd gold plated fiasco with it's own batshit insanity, it fits perfectly...

I agree with FUD that it does sound like much of the stupid crap that CARB says, and it is ludicrous, just not as craxy as it sounds, when you see the whole picture... On the other hand, he does seem to support future LOSSAN electrication from what I've been told.

Maybe, it's that Rendon thinks it is insane to be electrigying just ot justify "a test track" while using still more CAHSRA funds buying a big order of equipment sets. Since it would likely be taking all of the remaining funds that were committed to the US Link Union Station run through, to pay for it....? All while still not having enough money, at this point in this grand taxpayer fleecing, to even finish double tracking for the gold plated CAHSRA fiasco between Chowchilla and Wasco.

Rendon's local interests also includes the LA-UP Harbor line-WSAB light rail project to Cerritos ending at the I-605, which would be doable with those State surplys funds by the 2028 Olympics.

So, if it is a choice for him between the gold plated, much hated, incompetent boondoggle at CAHSRA, and that second highest performing LRT line on MTA's project list, and/or the numuber one cost benefit commuter and intercity project in the US at Union Station, to spend out all remaining funds buying multiple sets of high speed "toy" train sets for the dysfunctional CAHSRA clusterfuck, to 'test" and "play with" on their stranded investment, he'd probably take the local projects, over more incompetence, taxpayer waste, and the outright lies that come every day from the folks running the CAHSRA fiasco.
