Having only passed through Fort Madison once decades ago on Amtrak, I know little about the area and RR operations. Can someone enlighten me on the following?:
* What was Amtrak using for a depot all the years the old station was out of use?
* What are the RR lines passing through town? Old AT&SF main line obviously is one. Are there other BNSF lines? Former CB&Q? I saw a UP locomotive in the video. What UP lines pass through town, and what is the heritage of the line(s)?
"The current Amtrak station, whose design incorporates red brick and metal siding, was built in 1968 by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway—commonly referred to as the “Santa Fe.” Located at the east end of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF—successor to the Santa Fe) freight yard, it replaced a downtown complex that included a depot, Railway Express Agency (REA) building, and freight office."

"Union Pacific using Trackage Rights on the BNSF Ft Madison Iowa
UP has had trackage rights for a number of years now on this line. It was one of the conditions attached to the merger of Santa Fe and BN in 1996."
