To Norm's inquiry, The " Earthquake Bridge " refers to the rail bridge over Pajaro Creek ( & the San Andreas Fault ), located on Espee's Coast Line between San Jose & Watsonville Jct. This bridge was specially designed to withstand earthquakes by literally " rolling " back & forth. The footings under the main beams contain rollers. It served well in the 1989 Loma Prieta quake, despite being very near the epicenter.
