What I heard is that the Hood operation probably won't happen. It's because of the NIMBY's and jerks live near the rail. The managers would love to, but that battle is above them.
I think the 4466 needs to use oil. California won't allow the coal fired engines without making it difficult. The new manager is anxious to get as much stuff on line as possible.
Apparently the promotion process is easier and fair for everyone, but you have to really know the rules good and you have to really know what your doing. When I was there, nobody totally knew the rules. Everybody did their own thing, made up different rules, and argued alot. I was told that all of the arguing and yelling has stopped. I guess he manages with a softer tone, but he has really high expections on knowing the rules.
When I was a volunteer I thought we looked like idiots. We were supposed to be one of the best museums but we were a joke. It sounds like they have really cleaned up their act. Some people didn't like the change and left. But the ones who stayed say it's way more professional and fun.
