Not real sure why they moved it on this route. US50 West along the Arkansas River is a @#$%&, esp with something such as this. Agree, Alamosa to Leadville would have been a better way, but unless they were concerned with Poncha Pass, this was probably the only other option, other than what might have been if Tennessee Pass was still open.
