I don’t have much to add beyond that I think the rails at Currie have only been paved over, not removed. The connection to the old WP at Shafter is in place and S&S Shortline Leasing has been storing cars in the old NN Shafter yard and the mainline just to the south for the past decade or so. S&S around 2009-2010 did clear the brush from and do some tamping and leveling work on the Shafter to Currie line, but nothing since, the only time they used it was to store a couple hundred covered hoppers down around Dolly Varden for a few months around 2010. Incidentally S&S and the City of Ely/Nevada Northern Railway Foundation are in the process of transferring 127 miles of the old NN main line to S&S as part of s settlement agreement ending five or more years of litigation between the parties, they signed the papers last November or December but are having trouble getting things through the STB at the moment.
