The images that you wish to display as part of your message will need to be hosted (stored) on another site, as the Altamont Press Discussion Board has no means for posters to upload images to the site directly.
Flickr, RailPictures and other image based sharing sites are all possibilities for this. You could also link to your own website if you chose.
Below are two examples from recent Altamont posts that show different image link styles.
Once you have uploaded your image to your image host of your choice, you can either provide a clickable link, as in
[
knox.rrpicturearchives.net]
This is from a "Freericks" post. You can see he is using RRPictures. (This style only loads when clicked, so viewers with only dial-up speeds may prefer this option. If you choose this option, simply get the image onscreen (in another browser window), the copy (right-click) the image URL and paste into your Altamont post.
Or embed the link, so that the image appears to be part of the posted message, without requiring a click.
This is from a "Drew Jacksich" post.
Depending on your connection speed, you may/may not see the link text before it is replaced with the image. Here is the actual contents of this particular link if you are interested:
"< img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3386/3289225313_2543248cfb_o.jpg" border="0" alt="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3386/3289225313_2543248cfb_o.jpg" />"
Drew is using Flickr to host these images.
If you want to use this style, click the 4th icon from the right (when creating your message [looks like a sun over mountains]) and paste the appropriate URL from your image host.
