In 2013, when I-5 was closed for a few weeks due to Skagit River bridge collapse, Amtrak added an extra Bellingham-Seattle train.
Perhaps VIA Rail could provide temporary passenger service to connect Kamloops, Revelstoke, Banff, Jasper, Calgary, and Edmonton with Vancouver and lower mainland BC.
