According to my source, the Stevens Pass tunnel problem was a minor derailment due to a empty
coal train having to be shoved up the hill and they shoved a little to hard and a couple of
empty coal cars derailed just inside the tunnel's west end. Also, Amtrak #7 stalled on the east side of the grade in a snow drift and a local had to pull it back to Wenatchee, where the
following day's #7 was in the yard. It is possible that there are three #7's sitting in
Wenatchee, but I'm not certain. Do not know if pass has reopened yet. Stampede had an
unknown problem and was closed for a spell. Several locations between Vancouver B.C. and
Vancouver, WA have been closed due to flooding and land slides. UP had a mud slide somewher
west of Portland Thurs or Friday.
