I suspect BNSF will offer buy outs and apply other pressure to former MRL trainpeople to get out of prior rights agreements so that they don't end up with an MRL only sub-pool in their
Spokane/Hauser Super Pool. Super Pool for those who don't know eliminated seperate crew pools to Pasco, Wenatchee and Whitefish making it so crews can be called to go in any direction.
I'm certain that they will want to add Missoula to that as soon as possible to keep things orderly and efficient. I'm surprised BNSF didn't offer MRL incentives to maintain the lease as it is to BNSF's advantage to have MRL operate as they are cheaper and more efficient and, as noted earlier, trains tend to make up lost time on MRL. I really don't buy MRL's excuse of
interchange being a problem as it all takes place automaticly as the trains pass track-side
readers and all the processing is often completed before the crew even ties up.
