Amtrak Conductor Falls From Train, Killed, in Rhode Island

An Amtrak conductor died after apparently falling from a train she was working, at Westerly, RI.
It was Amtrak Train 163, southbound Boston-Washington. The 26 year old conductor was apparently opening a door, trap and steps as the train was approaching the station. When she did not respond to radio calls, other crew went looking for her and found her body on the tracks north of the station.
Law enforcement authorities held the train and crew for investigation. Passengers were transferred to a following train.
