Saving these 3 rare Shasta Daylight cars is all well and good, but you better by willing to pony up some dollars to make it happen. The problem is the cost to get them out of that isolated location and back to live rail. Assuming they were brought to a live rail connection in the Sacramento area, for example, by the time you figure a crane at Scotia, a crane at Sacramento, and the heavy-haul highway move down the hill, you're looking at $15,000.00 per car easy. Plus whatever it might cost to purchase the cars from the NCRRA. The current market value of the cars is probably only in the neighborhood of $15,000.00 each if they were sitting on live rail, so right off the bat your going to have more into them than they're worth. That doesn't mean it isn't worth doing, but you're not likely going to make any money on the deal.
