More to The Point -- Three Forks, Montana is where the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin RIVERS all join to become the headwaters of The Missouri RIVER. So they are not really " forks " of an individual river. Those who paid attention in High School History class will know that famed explorers Lewis & Clark named the 3 smaller rivers after these men who supported their exploration of the recent Louisiana Purchase.
