A 1990 (target year) plan called for High speed rail, Dallas to Ft. Worth, along existing railroad ROW. I don't know whose railroad ROW that was.
Who knows if that HSR train, if built, would have been worthwhile or a bust.
Key to all the economics was (and is) the price of gasoline to the consumer! Autos have always been the consumer's first choice.
