Maybe something more realistic might be the use of that equipment, either just before or after the start / end of their operating season, being used on a special excursion originating out of Grand Junction. Put a locomotive on both ends of the train and run down to the property-ownership boundary. It would take cooperation and a "can do" attitude from Rocky Mountain Rail Tour management and UP.
