Agree to some extent about the wisdom of ordering new passenger equipment in 1950/1951, but who could see into the future? Also, the CB & Q and its parent roads were upgrading their fleets at about the same time, so the Milwaukee probably felt that they had no choice, or else get out of the passenger business.

By the way, even SP under Don Russell was ordering new passenger equipment as late as 1954, and UP was ordering domes even later than that.
