Yeah, that's one possible explanation...

No matter what the cause of the mental illness is, the disease seems to be getting much worse...

As a fan of Time Ghost Army, I find the knowledge displayed of the names of all of the important murdering Nazi war criminals is simply amazing...

The use of them as handles for the multiple personalities is, at this stage of his mental illness, not as surprising.
