I found this conversation on Facebook from one week ago. Names omitted. Gives some new info but also raises questions.

The switch is already cut in!
I see it 2 times a day
They need to get the tracks panels stacked up at the Metrolink Perris layover facility in the east lot of the yard over to the location of the switch and cut them in!
—————

- it's a second switch to protect this switch and line the museum into the station on there own track .
—————

- yes I completely agree with you on that . Easy is not the SCRM way .
Nor is planning

—————

- I spoke with a track supervisor or road master,
At metrolink
He said those track panels sitting in the layover facility at Perris were for that purpose
A temporary connection
