Replace a BART line with HSR and CR? Politically DOA?

Are there any detailed maps of the new straightened alignment?

“Subsequent to the approval of the Final EIR in 2021, the Authority has advanced design and analysis of the Mountain House Station Alternative IOS from the existing Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station to include a new alignment that responds to requests by the community of Mountain House for a Valley Link station that better serves their community. This new alignment would reduce construction cost, improve travel time through a straightened alignment, enable improved station access, and facilitate the advancement of transit-oriented development.”

Once this is connected to Central Valley HSR, it will be relatively cheap (relative to Pacheco HSR) to electrify it and replace BART in the 580 corridor between Dublin/Pleasanton and the East Bay. Boom, there’s your new Bay Area to Central Valley rail link for billions cheaper than the mafia wants.

Thinking about it I see some logic. But politically too big a lift. Remove DubPleas trains delays need for new BART bay tube. Can get by with just a commuter rail and hsr tube you would reroute to? But BART serves more destination stations than CR would. Riders would call it a downgrade and revolt. Too many political turf battles.

If going down the freeway then the logic says extend BART to the ACE line where a station can be shared. Like 580 and Patterson Pass Road. Instead of this dumb extra transfer dead end e-Bart. ACE to eBART to BART is too much. The large cost difference comes across as intentionally inflated by political planners seeking to justify their preferred eBART option.
