You USED to be in TE&Y service. What happened? Did all the "turning and burning" wear you out? Did you have to find another line of work because the rotating shifts and away-from-home-terminals got to you? Maybe those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

It's a tough lifestyle. I can't think of ONE female who went into train or engine service and remained there until she put in her 30 years of service / 60 years of age to qualify for a full pension. Can you? I'm sure there's some, but there's not many.
