1946 film. So maybe captured Nazi tanks on the flats? Hated to see a steam engine destroyed. But they weren't rare back then. And electrification was probably progressing in the post-war rebuilding.

Real accordion, too.

Most foreign steam engines look like they gave crews less protection from the weather than in the US. Though French and Britain weather is rarely as extreme as in America.
