Car "UPP 2066" info

Several folks have asked about that strange looking car that's being the locomotive of the recent passenger special that operated up the Coast.

It's the UPP 2066 (the second "P" indicates "Passenger"). It's a power/generator car that UP converted from MofW car 903677 back in 2004. It was originally Postal Storage car 5816.

The car provides HEP (Hotel Electric Power) for lighting, heating and cooling the cars in the train. The raised roof line contains the cooling system and fans for the engine and generator.
