Crew, still had to deal with this. Could have been far worse contents. Our approach to grade crossings in this country pales still to putting others at willy nilly risks. Spent ten years in Britain. Every level grade crossing has double gates, both sides. Come down 3 minutes or more before the train is due. They make you wait, for the train to zip by! Sometimes two trains will zip by and in this country, as the last car on the train goes by on multiple tracks, I've seen the automobile dive around the single gate nearly getting tagged by that second train opposite. Our train crews should not have to put up with this. You all remember the gravel truck that embedded itself into the side of the Amtrak train out in Nevada. Hyw. 95, think it was. Trying to beat the train. A GRAVEL Hauling truck! The balls on that idiot driver! Took out one of our favorite Conductors... Bless her.
