What we have here is an interesting video. They start with a statistic that would cause most to go "What!" and then come up with a more relevant metric. But see the video. Here are the two metrics, with both based on cities with Population above 500,000 (2021 American community Survey, 5-Year).

Top 10 Densest Urban Areas in the United States:
Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, New York, Las Vegas, Urban Honolulu, Miami, Fresno, San Diego, Salt Lake City

Top 10 Densest Metro Areas in the Unites States (Census Tract Population-Weighted)
New York, San Francisco, Urban Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Jose, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, San Diego
