At the time of your trip, it appears that BN ETT # 16 was in effect and, at the time, westbound Amtrak trains were routed on the NP line between Spokane and Pasco. See pages 19, 20 and 24.

In May of 1983 I rode an excursion that was routed SP Portland-Chemult, and BN Chemult-Portland with overnight lodging in Bend. I bailed out at Bingen-White Salmon and rode AMTK 28 from there to Spokane and AMTK 27 from Spokane to Portland. In 1983 the directional running of Amtrak trains had eastbounds running on the NP and westbounds running on the SP&S. On AMTK 27 I remembered seeing the Lower Monumental and Ice Harbor locks and dams along the Snake River lit up in the dark and we made the routine reverse movement from Ainsworth Jct up to the Pasco Amtrak station, which was located along the NP route.
While on # 28 and hoisting some brewskies in the lounge car, I met a young woman who was traveling from Lincoln City, OR to her home in Coeur d'Alene, ID who ended up being my girlfriend for several years.
