Most all of the written heritage from antiquity has been lost so this has profound possibilities. Wealthy Romans generally had both Greek and Latin libraries in their villas and these may very well remain unexcavated at Herculaneum. Now time to persuade the Italian government to restart the digs.
I suggest the big carrot of a major scanning and computer facility right there in Naples to get things going.
