What is even more disappointing is that this came from the Mineta Transportation Institute and San Jose State, and that it is such an obvious Econ 101 "sophmore" level PR puff piece, masquerading as an "academic" paper. "
So it's your academic taxpayer money being wasted, and not project funds being used for this "sophomoric" HSR economic benefits PR puff piece.
And since the contractor's and union's are spending a ton of money on these "new urbanist" laundered 501 3 C funded tax exempt "front groups" to promote the "runaway money train" on their members dues, and taxpayer funded bloated profits, there is no need for project funds to directly produce this kind of superficial sophomoric kind of lobbying piece.
I had the good fortune to have worked for a close friend of Norm, and his family, (both of their families had a close relationship, from having been locked up for being Japanese acestry American citizens, during WWII) and this sophomoric level puff piece should in no way reflect on Norm's real transportation and life accomplishments.
