What should be the maximum length for freight trains?

The unions say 7500 feet. Some states say 8500 feet. Baghdad AAR says unlimited.

I lean 10000 feet. Worked ok for Conrail all those years. For Intermodal. I say 7500 feet if have hazmat tanks. Tonnage restrictions? I can be convinced.
