Re Hurlbut, they once owned V&T loco second number 25, a 1905 Baldwin ten-wheeler acquired new by V&T to replace a loco by the same numeral acquired used from U.P. in 1901. Originally coal-fueled, the 2nd 25, was converted to oil two years later and distinguished itself by hauling the last passenger train to Virginia City in 1938, then assisting in dismantling the road just three years later. When 2nd #25 was itself replaced by a larger locomotive in 1947, it was sold to RKO Pictures after which it stared in a number of motion pictures and even pulled aU.P. a anniversary train in So.Calif. Before being acquired with other RKO property by Desilu Productions in 1958, who in turn sold the individual locomotive toHurlbut Amusements six years later. Hurlbut's actual use or relocation of No. 25 is not recorded, but is presumed to have been stored inactive with other RKO rail equipment in U.P.'s East L.A. Yard where it found occasional movie use until acquired with other V&T equipment by State of Nevada in 1971 for display at the State Railroad Museum at Carson City, Larry Jensen(in his "Hollywood Railroads" found that Hurlbut intended to display the loco at a planned amusement park that was never built. So while owned for several years by an Orange County firm, the engine apparently never resided there and was presumably not consumed by the recent conflaguration that consumed Bud's Barn.
