The Leavenworth Snow Trains were done in by several factors, including increasingly higher fees Amtrak charged Alki Tours for equipment & crews, and lack of available equipment.
Not sure you were seeing a CZ Dome - Obs on the Snow Train; more likely it was Amtrak's ex - Santa Fe BIG Dome; a full length dome that was worth the extra fare charged. This car was retired due to mechanical issues; parts for the trucks & wheelsets no longer being available.
