Per the photo posted, the BNSF seem to have a real need to get the line open for the freight, especially the auto traffic, and to get this rusted out bike bridge removed ASAP.

Meanwhile, the dysfunction and chaos amongst the public stakeholders and operators is continuing...

OC Register Story On and Nice Photo of, San Clemente Slide...

I'm less and less impressed with OCTA's management of LOSSAN, since they took over from SANDAG. Of course that was back before Hasan, and so many well qualified folks leaving SANDAG, who had kept much of this running, and kept the auditors happy about how taxpayer money was being spent...

OCTA has had good leadership from folks like Art Brown, but there seems to be a lack of strong proactive management with the authority to act. The failure at all levels of political and management leadership on LOSSAN at LACMTA is reflected in the complete mess and delays with the LAUS run through project.

I wouldn't recommend giving this back to the Caltrans Divison of Fail, a mixed track record, at best... But, if we ever want to have a reliable, first world quality, cost effective rail passenger system on LOSSAN, we will need to see more authority and accountability than we are witnessing lately, by all of the stakeholders who own pieces of this line.
