...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PST MONDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow continues. Snow accumulations 1 to 3 feet for
Lake Tahoe and eastern Sierra communities below 7000 feet, except
up to 6 inches for areas below 5500 feet in Mono County, and 3 to
5 feet above 7000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 100 mph along
Sierra ridges, with gusts of 35 to 55 mph in the lower elevations.
* WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area, and Mono County.
* WHEN...Until 10 AM PST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Travel and backcountry recreation will be dangerous due
to whiteout conditions and snowfall rates in excess of 3 inches
per hour. Strong winds and heavy snow could damage trees and power
lines.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow may turn to rain below 5000 to 5500 feet
this afternoon and evening.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Strongly consider delaying all travel until the storm passes. If
travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Pack a
winter storm kit, including such items as tire chains, booster
cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets, and extra clothing.
