Talgo flopped in the US, but their business is strong in Europe.
New record in order backlog
Talgo closed the year with a robust order backlog totalling 4.223 billion euros, a 54 per cent increase from 2022. Moreover, the company achieved historical highs in new orders exceeding 2.1 billion euros. This strong commercial momentum supported increased manufacturing activity, driven by projects in Germany, Denmark, and Spain.
Most of the new contracts are extensions of current agreements with German DB and Danish DSB, as well as the expansion of the maintenance contract with Renfe for the Talgo 250 high-speed fleet. These new orders mitigate execution risks, contribute to manufacturing schedule stability, and allow room for industrial improvements.
