According to the M-N article, the 6 miles remaining to be built of BART in San Jose will cost $12.75 billion. Think about it. 6 miles of BART costing close to what CAHSR will from Madera to Shafter. That's what poking big holes holes through urban areas costs. Think of it as an benchmark for CAHSR costs once they get into LA.
