Yosemite Valley Railroad runs again in May

Most people alive today never got a chance to ride the Yosemite Valley Railroad. You can make up for that May 19th at Niles Station on The Niles Canyon Railroad. The Yosemite Valley Railroad Observation car #330 will be added to the regular Sunday train, and available to all passengers shortly after leaving the station. This is a mostly restored car featuring 17 stained glass windows, a 10' square rear observation deck with large solarium overhead, and of course rear iron railing with brass cap surrounding the spacious area. Regular fares apply (hint: PLA members ride free, consider joining!)

The PLA owns the YV107, due for restoration in the not too distant future. These two cars represent 50% of the known existing rolling stock from the YV, and the 330 is one of only 3 observation cars produced by Hicks Locomotive and Car Works, Chicago. Power will be steam, and the Niles Canyon scenery closely resembles the Merced River canyon. As we say, Niles Canyon Railroad is a playground for adults, and we have the collection to back it up!
