More progress is being made on plans to improve connectivity between Chico and the Sacramento area.

The Butte County Association of Governments (BCAG) met on Thursday to review plans for the North Valley Rail Project, which will create rail stops in Chico, Gridley, Yuba City and Plumas Lake.

The project is expected to cost $500 million with some funds coming from grants.

BCAG is also moving forward with plans to bring a bus-only Amtrak route between Chico and Sacramento. Devine says BCAG agreed to send a letter to the San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA), which operates the buses, urging them to start bus-only service.
