It was not unusual to use State Street, especially when running inbound (westboud) into LAUPT, due to trains that were being "reduced" (swithers pulling the cuts of "pigs" desitned for the Shops, off of trains yarding at Taylor) occupying the usual "inboound" mainline tracks at the Shops, and leaving the other main open for trains departing eastbound from Taylor.
