Interesting, but really garden variety E. Calif. Shear Zone quake, in between the Landers and Ridgecrest earthquake zones. Deep enough that there was probably no surface rupture; shallow enough to empty some shelves at McDonalds and the Army base. Maximum reported intensity VI which might indicate light damage to poorly built (like unreinforced adobe or brick) structures. A UP train going through Yermo at the time might have felt like it was derailing...
3.5 aftershock 3 min later (felt locally) and 2.7 5 min later (felt strongly, apparently by somebody right on top of it).
FWIW there was a M2.8 in Ormstown, Canada this morning that was also felt strongly over an extended area (as is usual for quakes in the eastern part of the continent).
Interesting day, but normal activity.
