New BART car design more utilitarian

From media reports it is clear that BART plans to move to a more typical, lower maintenance, subway car car design with its new equipment. Three doors, wider aisles and fewer seats. Looks like the cars will feature straight sides to take full advantage of the wide cross section allowed by broad gauge.

I did not see any mention of truck, motor, or propulsion control design, but I sure hope BART spends as much effort improving what is below the floor as to what is above it. BART will need quieter running gear to compensate for the three doors. Sliding doors are poor noise insulators, especially as they start to age.
