Here's an aerial photo and a GOOGLE Streetview image of the horrendous flooding in the Biltmore Village section of Asheville, NC. In both photos, note the distinctive brick building with the three arched windows. It's circled in the aerial photo. The ex-Southern Railway lines to Spartanburg, SC (the Saluda Hill line) and the line to Salisbury, NC (via "the Loops") diverge here at Biltmore, just beyond the former SOU Railway Biltmore passenger station (since repurposed) that can be seen on the left in the Streetview image.
In happier days, here's a photo I took on NOV 12, 2011, THIRTEEN YEARS AGO, of a Norfolk Southern office car special that ran from Knoxville, TN to Asheville/Biltmore, NC. The photo shows it crossing the then-tame Swannanoa River after it had been turned on a wye near the Biltmore passenger station and is heading back to the yard flanked by McDowell St. and Meadow Road. At the yard the train will pick up dignitaries and invited guests for the return to Knoxville along the scenic French Broad River. This line has suffered extensive flood damage. About the sixth passenger car of the train is passing under the signal bridge that is shown in the Google Streetview photo.
