LOSSAN numbers from LA to SD went way back up this summer with a "full time" rail passenger service that is actually able to "operate trains" in the most congested travel corridor in the US...
Although the 2023-2024 FY passenger numbers were still less than half of the pre-Covid record 2019 LOSSAN numbers, a significant amount of that FY's poor numbers was due to line closures and service disruptions.
I've been "told" by an Amtrak staffer (but can't seem to find the LOSSAN monthly numbers on-line like I used to???), that this summer's monthly passenger numbers were some of the best LOSSAN numbers, since the record 2019, 8.3 million annual passenger numbers...
