The popular Iron Horse Rail Camp will be held at the Nevada State Railroad Museum on June 12 through June 15. The camp is limited to eight participants in order to insure a maximum hands-on experience. Virginia and Truckee 4-6-0 number 25, 1910 vintage McKeen motorcar 22 and 1924 Edwards motorcar 401 will be available for operation. The four-day camp is designed to teach attendees to operate each piece of equipment including both firing and running locomotive 25. Last year, four of the eight spots were filled by returnees which speaks highly of the program. While the camp is not inexpensive it is more than competitive with similar experiences and it raises funds that go directly to the preservation and operations at the museum. Those signing up before the first of the year will be able to enroll at the 2024 price. After the first of January the price goes up by $200. More information and enrollment can be found at [
