I host a railcam on my house, with two cameras, that catches 33ish trains a day plus switching six days a week. The cameras are about $200/each. I have an antenna to pick up the radio that is added to the feed, and a separate computer to blend the auto and video (another $600ish.) So about $800 plus cabling to get things going. Extra internet to cover the full time streaming costs about $75/month, plus the some extra power usage. Someone else maintains everything tech wise from afar, while I cover the increased costs and some of the hardware. The benefit is learning, via the chat, about what I am seeing out the window, and sharing it with others. The downside is the natural audio feeds into the camera from my yard. I appreciate the other cameras along the Sunset Route so I can see what's coming or what I might have missed.
