Louie and his brother Dave are part of the famous "Bradas" family of El Sobrante, CA. Their father, Lou, was a machinist for many years at C&H Sugar in Crockett, CA.
Big LOU was an avid STEAM buff and TRACTION buff. For many years, the BRADAS family operated their Live Steam locomotives at the Golden Gate Live Steamers track in Oakland's Redwood Regional Park and later in Berkeley's Tilden Regional Park.

Infact, Big LOU is a past President of GGLS which will be 75 years old in 2011. Oldest club of its type in the United States.
