CW is reportedly the only line of the Sierra Northern system still making money on excursions. Supposedly, they are doing OK, in part because they are fiscally separated from the other lines as the Mendocino Division. They keep the money they make, and they pay their own bills. The other lines have seen their excursion business cut by the economy or horribly mismanaged by people who don't have business skills. As a result of mismanagement and the economy, the dinner trains in Oakdale and Woodland have shut down, and the railroad is supposedly on cash-only basis with their service providers (fuel, parts, etc.). The economic stress is recent, the mismanagement has been going on for years.
