BUGX 1852 at BNSF Argentine Yard
BUGX 1852, an SD9E built for the Southern Pacific, sits at the BNSF Argentine Yard deadline during its trip to its new home. BUGX 1852 was built in May 1955 as SP SD9 5438 and was painted into the Black Widdow livery. It was eventually renumbered to SP 3916 in 1965, and in January 1975 was rebuilt at SP's Sacramento Shops as SP SD9E 4397 and was painted into the "Bloody Nose" scarlet and gray livery. In March 1994, the Genesee and Wyoming aquired SP 4397 and rostered it onto their Willamette and Pacific railroad as WPRR 1852, and then eventually in the 2000s got put onto Portland and Western's roster as PNWR 1852. PNWR 1852 was sidlined during the Genesee and Wyoming EPA scandal, and would be aquired by Dieselmotive in January 2024 as BUGX 1852.
