Seems like a good idea to me!
But when we're talking gov't money - no good idea ever went unpunished.
Besides, it's just plain takin' to long for any stimulus money to actually do anything, other than hide in some bank vault, in order to make the bank's numbers look better (re: stress tests) - big deal.
Meanwhile, we continue to see business failure after business failure. It will eventually take down the weaker railroads too - then the next, and the next..... Its already taking down municipals in California. The dominoes just continue to fall.
Now when was Amtrak supposed to actually get all this money for rehab, so it could get on with it? Probably only after all the private shops have closed down - especially the smaller ones - putting us all out of work.
I would have hoped that they would get the barn door closed before ALL the cows have gotten out. But I'm beginning to doubt that was ever the intent of the stimulus.
So don't hold your breath -
