Tragic incident reported in Rio Linda as Union Pacific train strikes individual

(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento Metro Fire Department responded to an incident in the track in Rio Linda on Sunday afternoon.

According to Union Pacific Railroads, the incident happened north of the intersection of West Elkhorn Boulevard and East Levee Road around 1:15 p.m.

Union Pacific train hit and killed an individual who was on the tracks, officials said.

*Witness reported that "train charged off the track and chased the victim down"*

At this time, crews are investigating the scene.
